The session examined the IRS 990 tax information return as the most public document an organization produces. Read by foundations, corporations, and individuals interested in knowing about a nonprofits work and its associated revenues and expenses, it is available to the general public on Guidestar.org. The 990 has been revised for 2008 and now includes more detail in a revised format.

Specifically the session addressed:
  • What readers look for
  • Where readers look for key information
  • If the allocation of expenses make sense
  • What we learn from the Support Schedule
  • How to use the 990 to your best advantage
