Thanks Joe, We had a ball!

The Community Foundation celebrated giving by hosting its first community luncheon on March 12, 2007 at the Princeton Hyatt. Penn State football coach and philanthropist, Joe Paterno, was the event’s keynote speaker to commemorate the Community Foundation's 16 year history of building community by building philanthropy.  “Giving is a ball” and we hope the event has inspired everyone to “pass it on” in their own way.

We thought Joe Paterno was terrific. His message is the Community Foundation’s message, delivered in his own wonderful style. He accommodated his many fans with grace, and shared his great sense of humor and insight with us. Many people have told us that his story of the minister raising funds for a new church (“The good news is that we have a million dollars — the bad news is that it’s in your pocket.”) resonated with them.

Merrill Lynch Chairman Emeritus and Community Foundation associate William A. Schreyer introduced Mr. Paterno. He joined over 400 other business and community leaders, philanthropists, nonprofit executives, and professional advisors to raise over $90,000 to support the Princeton Area Community Foundation, New Jersey’s first nationally certified community foundation.

Thank you Mr. Paterno, for helping us score a touchdown!

The Community Foundation helps people from all walks of life build charitable funds for the long-term benefit of central New Jersey. Our motivation is simple: no one knows what the region’s needs will be in 20, 50, or 100 years, but we do know that later generations will require substantial charitable resources to respond to the issues of their day.  PACF offers all people who care about this place a simple way to create a lasting remembrance of their lives, values and commitments. For more information please contact the Community Foundation at 609-219-1800.
